Writings & Other Random Thoughts

Writings…for children

  1. OpPoSiTe Me – A rhyme about embracing who you are
  2. “e” – It’s a BOOK and a PLAY. Either way, it’s a play on words!
  3. “i”  – Another BOOK and PLAY (and still a play on words!)
  4. Meet “Wild Joe”

Random thoughts…by Traci Sanders

  1. Writers are my favorite teachers.
  2. Live the story you want to read.
  3. Storytellers take the scenic route.
  4. Reading = Experiencing the same experience in a completely different way.
  5. The greatest act of kindness is to listen.
  6. Reading gives our experiences somewhere to land.
  7. Focusing on what you don’t like about your appearance is like reading a great story and focusing on the typos.
  8. It is not only what we read that impacts us, but when it is read.
  9. After walking barefoot on a beach with a lot of shells, it occurred to me that shells are nature’s Legos.
  10. You move for the place. You stay for the people.
  11. Words don’t change, but meanings do.
  12. There isn’t a moment in history when words haven’t changed history.
  13. The power of books: We come to them one way, yet leave as another.
  14. I used to think that books had an expiration date for when you could learn from them, even enjoy them. I was wrong. Because as we add to our story, the stories add to us.
  15. It’s the little things that really matter when they come from those who matter most.
  16. To me, opening a book is about so much more than reading, it is truly about seeing – ourselves, others, everything around us.
  17. The most important moments in life are the small ones, daily life’s unsung heroes. There may not be photos of these times – they are, in essence, the in-between spaces in an album – but this is what lives are made of; the small moments that hold it all together.
  18. A book is, truly, a pebble in a pond where the ripple effects are often far deeper and wider than first realized.
  19. The books we read make up who we are. They are our literary DNA.
  20. Your bookshelves tell your story.
  21. Provide context before comments.
  22. Elevate DON’T escalate the conversation.
  23. Do you know why books will never go away? Because everyone has a story to tell.
  24. You know what I’ve discovered in life? That the big things mean a little and the little things mean a lot.
  25. I use technology when I want to know something; I read a book when I want to learn something.
  26. Live in the moment, not for the moment.
  27. We do not enter books to leave our reality, but rather to find ourselves.
  28. We are remembered for our quirks and our kindness.
  29. Every author has a reason for writing a story; every reader a reason for reading it.
  30. The magic of stories…Just as magicians wave their hands to bring forth something invisible only moments ago, so too do authors, their fingers dancing gracefully across the page.
  31. What is a computer for a writer, but a literary piano; it’s author the composer of words.
  32. If everyone talked to the person standing next to them in line, instead of being on their phones, we could solve the world’s loneliness.
  33. As we go through life, we realize that, at some point, our friends have become our family, and those within our own family, those who love us and care for us; make time for us; include us, they have become our friends.
  34. Live your life, not a liefe.
  35. When you make footprints in the snow and then try to walk in those exact steps, you can’t. Instead, you feel unsteady and walk outside the lines. Why? Because going back requires making a new path. You can’t relive what was.
  36. People who read a lot, are really hard to read.
  37. We share our stories to help others understand theirs.
  38. You can look back, but you can never go back.
