If your child dreams of becoming president of the United States, don’t miss
Madam President
Author: Lane Smith

Publisher: Hyperion Books for Children
Recommended Age Range: 4 to 8
A young girl imagines herself as president with all the wonderful (“Veto!”) and not so wonderful (“babies to kiss”) duties it entails. A great story about what it really means to be president – and all from a child’s point of view. Great!

So You Want to Be President?
Author: Judith St. George
Illustrator: David Small
Publisher: Philomel Books
Recommended Age Range: 7 to 12
This book not only covers many presidents, it talks about what it’s like to live in the White House. Children love the idea of having their own bowling alley and movie theatre; however, having to dress up all the time seems to dim their enthusiasm (well most). ☺ My favorite part about reading this book aloud – hearing who wants to be president, as well as those who simply want to live in the White House for the amenities. A wonderfully fun read!
